Welcome to the Leadership Studies Program and Academic Minor,

Dr. Lisa DeFrank-Cole, Director of Leadership Studies Program, WVU

a department of Eberly College of Arts and Sciences at West Virginia University. This is the place where you can learn leadership skills, analyze the problems of leadership, and practice being an effective leader.

Studying leadership is an individual adventure as you embark on a series of instructor guided journeys of self-discovery to uncover the leader in you. Establishing the leader within you paves the way for a career of your choosing where the future is what you work to create.

Within the Leadership Studies Program, you are engaged in experiential learning and application of theory and best practices in class, within community settings, and while on the job. The personal growth of a Leader Mentor experience paired with the advantages of a large university puts you in a variety of environments to interact with experienced and emerging leaders. This is the place where you can assist others to lead effectively and become an established leader yourself. To support your endeavors, Leadership Studies offers opportunities such as the Emma G. Noe Scholarship and the competitively selected Milan Puskar Leadership Scholars Program to support you in your studies, internships, or outside-the-classroom activity that helps you develop as a leader.

Join us as we dive into the study of research-based leadership theory, lessons learned from experienced leaders, help enterprises succeed, and serve others through the practice of leadership. Let WVU be the place to build your knowledge, skills, and record of achievement as an emerging leader.
