The Leadership Studies Program faculty, staff, and partners extend beyond the traditional boundaries of the classroom and academic departments. The faculty who teach reflect this mix of scholarship in the field and real world experience as leaders. Eager to help you create your legacy, the leadership experience of some of the current WVU and regular guest instructors includes:

Dr. Lisa DeFrank-Cole – Director of WVU’s Leadership Studies Program; responsible for fellowships and Graduate School advising as director of the WVU ASPIRE Office; former Executive Director, WV PROMISE Scholarship program, working with two WV state higher education chancellors and Governors Wise and Manchin.

Dr. Gerald E. LangWVU Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and Research from 1995-June 2008 leading academic innovation, growth, and earned distinction for the core missions of teaching, research, service; eight years as successful dean of WVU’s largest academic college, Eberly College of Arts and Sciences.

Dr. L. Christopher PleinWVU Public Administration Division Chair and Assistant Dean, Eberly College School of Applied Social Sciences; Eberly Family Professor of Outstanding Public Service; active Board member of West Virginia’s high risk insurance program, ACCESS WV.

Dr. Daniel Leidl-A managing partner of Meno Consulting (http://www.menoconsulting.com), a firm specializing in leadership development, team building, motivation and organizational culture.Worked with the International Center for Performance Excellence and is currently consulting for companies looking to improve internal or external conditions; has a Ph. D. in Sports Psychology from WVU.

Dr. Joe Frontiera-A managing partner of Meno Consulting (http://www.menoconsulting.com), a firm specializing in leadership development, team building, motivation and organizational culture.A top sales executive in Silicon Valley, working at two firms to deliver technologically advanced telecommunications solutions to Fortune 500 Companies; co-founded the Workshop Division of the International Center for Performance Excellence.

Ms. Lydotta Taylor-Founder and President/CEO of The EdVenture Group; Vice President of Workforce and Education for five years with WV High Technology Consortium Foundation; 13 years as mathematics and computer science teacher at Morgantown High School, WV.

Ms. Anita Mayer – Director of Academic Advising and the WVU McNair Scholars Program; Bachelor of Science in Social Work, WVU; Master of Public Administration, WVU; Extensive background in social work in the Morgantown area as well as academic positions with WVU.

Dr. Roger Hanshaw – An associate director of the West Virginia University Extension Service, is a Professional Registered Parliamentarian. Roger is a frequent teacher, coach, and advisor to organizations that use Robert’s Rules of Order in the transaction of business. His professional experience as a parliamentarian spans the world of organizations, from community nonprofit groups to multinational entities.

Mr. Tony Michael – An Assistant Professor with the West Virginia University Extension Service and Program Leader of Extension’s Institute for Labor Studies and Research. Tony works closely with the West Virginia labor movement to develop leadership training programs for both developing and established leaders.

Current WVU staff includes:

Rose Simis – Leadership Studies Coordinator with a Bachelor of Arts in English and History and Masters of Public Administration at WVU. Rose’s master’s emphasis is in non-profit management. She will be teaching LDR 201.

Zach Gouzd – Graduate Assistant in Leadership Studies. Zach graduated in 2009 with degrees in Biochemistry and French from WVU and will be pursuing a Masters degree in secondary education.
